this was the first cover for the movie comic i came up with.
i wanted it to have the movie poster feel with a collage of images. i looked towards drew struzan for insipration, for he is the king of movie posters. it makes me a bit said that this art form is fading out for the crappy digital posters. sometimes hand rendered is better. i enjoyed most his indiana jones postes. but anyways, yeah, i wanted this pic to have that feeling. its also the cover i spent the most time on. i wanted to give the people a more realistic look, but there is that whole legal thing about the exact likeness of a person, and you can't draw them that way, or you can't use that logo, so i did my best with what i had to work with. still it was fun working on this project, even with the crazy deadlines that went with it.

an impressive peice even down to the star-scape a :+fav: for sho, so tell me though how do you think the film will turn out and what do you think of Ford vehicles monopolizing on the TF's, either way from what I've seen it looks eyecandy and I'm sure Micheal Bay knows what he's doing. seeya

don't you mean gmc vehicles. there is only one ford, and thats barracaide. i don't really care who gives the movie the cars, as long as they suit the character, and i think that they do. i know that bb might have been better if he was a vw bug, but i know that vw doesn't want there cars to have anything to do with fighting. i think all the car modes work well.

Bravo sah! - You've definitely captured the 'Struzan-esque' look for it - I even caught that before you mentioned it below ;) The 'bots at the bottom remind me of the opening sequence from Team kight Rider  Which just rocks in itself. (yes the show wasn't all that it was cracked up to be - but it was kinght Rider..had talking cars - so you can't go wrong with that :D )

Seriously tho - did a faboulous job Alex - can't wait to see the colours

How many thumbnails did you go through before coming up with this particular composition?

Megatron on the left seems to be a bit overbearing, as in taking much attention. Then again, this IS dear Megs we're talking about...

The five Auotobots near the bottom right is COOL! Fit's them real well. Nice on putting the Allspark in the middle.

interesting, but megs needs to have that aggressive look. all that black helps give that evil feel to him. well thats what i think.

Don't know if you read my comments at the IDW forums... I just LOVE it. I wasn't really interested in all the live-action movie comics but... man, you really didn't disappoint anyone with your outstanding artwork. I saw the 4 covers at IDW's website and... WOW. It's also great to see a TF artist who knows how to draw good human faces. Congratulations. You're the man.

Also, I'm personally fond on classic movie posters... and not only movies. I love Toulouse Lautrec and similar artists for all they achieved (man, sorry for my english)

thought i'd post the line art up first, then i'll get to the colors later. there not too bad looking in color with the text on them. i was worried that the title would cover too much of the art, but it worrked out nicely.
